Chrono Eyes

A particular highlight on watch dials are often so-called chrono eyes. These are circularly embedded scales that house additional functions of the watch. Chrono eyes are also called function eyes, totalisers or chronographs. Most watches with function eyes have three placed on the dial. Typically, they are found at the 3, 6 and 9 o'clock positions. However, there are also watches with an arrangement at the 6, 9 and 12 o'clock positions. Some also have only two chrono eyes, which are then usually found at the 6 and 12 o'clock or 3 and 9 o'clock positions. The functions within the chrono eyes vary depending on the watch. Some watches, for example, have a date, weekday and 24-hour display, while others have a stopwatch function or a moon phase display and show the power reserve. Totalisers can therefore have a variety of functions. On watches with a large number of functions, the chrono eyes make it easier to keep an overview. Totalisers are found especially on larger men's watches, as they offer sufficient space on the dial.
